The most awarded Black woman in the history of the adult industry is also a major changemaker in that industry, that is when she’s not making waves in mainstream media and modeling. It’s little wonder they’re calling 2022 The Year of the Foxxx.
Mainstream audiences may have seen Ana Foxxx on high fashion runways around the world and in globally broadcast projects like HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty and films Tangerine, American Kamasutra, Toy, Dimiuendo, and All-American Bikini Car Wash that can been seen on Hulu, Netflix, Prime, and more.
“These are amazing opportunities,” she said. “Although I do have performing arts training, I feel that it serves me best in these roles to act naturally.”
Back in the adult industry, where Foxxx has shone as a stunning starlet for more than a decade, she is a Playboy Plus All-Star model and a Director/Producer. And at the recent Urban X Awards, she was named Porn Star of the Year for the second time and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2022.
“I was honestly stunned that I won Porn Star of the Year again and so happy! It’s an incredible feeling to be recognized for the hard work I’ve put into my ten years in adult with the Hall of Fame induction. I have the best fans, and I’m honored to now have three Urban X Awards trophies on my mantle,” she said.
Yet even as she celebrates these unprecedented award wins, Foxxx reflects on the situation of Black women in her industry.
“Winning these awards is a good/bad situation. As proud as I am, I think about how white women are recognized much more in this business,” she said. “I think about the Women of Color who came before me, who didn’t get recognized.”
“More Black women need to be recognized in this industry,” she surmised.
Indeed, Foxxx is a woman who cares about her industry and the people in it, an attitude that well qualifies her to be the current President of APAC, The Adult Performer Advocacy Committee; an organization that advocates for maintaining and improving safety and working conditions in the adult film industry by giving adult performers organized representation in matters that affect their health, safety, and community.
“I was nominated by my industry peers and was so honored that they chose me,” she said. “We advocate for performers in this industry, and we’re there and available to talk to them.”
While adult performers have on set advocates to whom they can report incidents of sexual harassment and other issues, APAC addresses on and off set concerns and maintains a Performers Bill of Rights and offers resources and protocols for STD testing, as well as information regarding sexual and mental health and financial matters.
“We also have parties, where performers can interact with us in a casual, no-pressure atmosphere,” said Foxxx. “We take them seriously.”
For example, on Wednesday, October 12th, APAC hosted an event for performers that raised money for some stellar charities such as Pineapple Support, Cupcake Girls, Center for Positive Sexuality, and SWOP LA.
Foxxx also advises performers to study the industry, studios, and projects they wish to undertake.
We will help them,” she said. “We also want them to do their research.”
For someone who has made amazing strides in the adult industry, Foxxx did not initially set out to become an adult star.
“I was a nerd and a bookworm back in school, very shy,” she revealed. “Going into porn made me sexually confident.”
Foxxx has filmed more than 600 scenes for studios such as Marc Dorcel, Evil Angel, Elegant Angel, Digital Playground, Vixen, Deeper, Pure Taboo, Adam & Eve, Holly Randall, Lust Cinema, Naughty America, Swallowed, AnalOnly, True Anal, Bang!, Hustler, Cherry Pimps, PervCity, Girlsway, Jules Jordan, Wicked, Penthouse, Penthouse+, Babes, Kink.com, Brazzers, MissaX, Bellesa Films, Team Skeet, VR Bangers, Twistys, and Girlfriends Films.
Among her favorite directors are female content creators, such as Jacky St. James and Holly Randall.
“I’ve been on sets where the director speaks only to the male talent as if they’re the ones that matter,” she said. “Many women directors listen more to the needs and concerns of female talent. They bring a different perspective. They know we exist, and they listen to us.”
Foxxx has won Best Group Sex Scene from AVN, Best Sex Scene All Girl (twice), All Sex Scene and Virtual Reality Scene from XBIZ, Under-rated Starlet from XCritic, and more. And she has been nominated for countless AVN, XBIZ, Urban X, XRCO, XCritic, Nightmoves, Fleshbot, and Sex Awards for Best New Starlet, Female Performer of the Year, Favorite Female Porn Star, Mainstream Star of the Year, Social Media Star, Best Leading Actress, Sexiest Adult Star, Best Star Showcase, and for her scene work.
The future promises to be rich and varied for Ana Foxxx, as she balances adult and mainstream projects with aspirations that include standup comedy, writing a book, and learning to fly a plane.
“And I recently purchased my first home,” she says with pride.
